Broadcasting with universal lists
نویسندگان
چکیده
In broadcasting, information originally held in one node of a communication network (called the source) has to be transmitted to a11 other nodes. In a unit of time, every node which already got the source message can transmit it to one neighbor. In classical broadcasting, the choice of neighbors to be informed by a node and the order in which they are informed may depend on the source. Thus, nodes need to store many transmission lists corresponding to different possible sources and need to know the source to adapt their behavior accordingly. In this paper we consider a variant of broadcasting in which every node is given a priori a single ordered list containing some of its neighbors. This list is meant to be universal for all possible sources. Upon obtaining the source message, a node transmits it to the neighbors from its list in prescribed order and then stops. This requires substantially less local memory devoted to schedule communication but usually increases broadcasting time. We compare broadcasting time in this and in the classical model and design optimal broadcasting schemes in the single-list model for trees, rings and grids.

Background: Because media have an essential role in people’s insight into different professions, this study was carried out to investigate the part of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in the public attitude toward the nursing profession in people living in Arak City, Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in the first six months of 2018. The study sample comp...

Benefit package is crucial for implementing universal health coverage (UHC). This editorial analyses how the benefit package of the Thai Universal Coverage Scheme (UC Scheme) evolved from an implicit comprehensive package which covered all conditions and interventions (with a few exceptions), to additional explicit positive lists. In 2002 when the Thai UC Scheme was lau...

Broadcasting with seamless transition from static to highly mobile wireless ad hoc, sensor and vehicular networks
In a broadcasting task, source node wants to send the same message to all the other nodes in the network. Existing solutions range from connected dominating set (CDS) based on static networks to blind flooding for moderate mobility and hyper-flooding for highly mobile and frequently partitioned networks. Existing protocols for all scenarios are based on some threshold parameters (e.g. speed, wh...
متن کاملA Universal Distribution Protocol for Video-on-demand
Most existing distribution protocols for video-on-demand are tailored for a specific range of request arrival rates and do not perform well beyond that range. We present a universal distribution protocol based on Juhn and Tseng's fast broadcasting protocol. Our protocol performs as well as the best reactive protocol at low to moderate request arrival rates and reverts to the fast broadcasting p...
